Education in Transition draws its inspiration from the wealth of experience and practice of free democratic education centres worldwide.
The basic attitude of democratic education can not only help to rethink education, but also offers valuable impulses in times of change. The decades of experience of free democratic places of education, such as the Sudbury Schools, strengthen the confidence to grant young people rights of self-determination and co-determination, place human values at the centre, support democratisation processes and are an example of democracy in action.
